Gstaad Summer Sports

Hiking:
Hiking on the mountains around Gstaad, SwitzerlandGstaad is an excellent location for leisure and adventurous hiking. The region offers more than 300 km (approx. 200 miles) of signposted and well maintained summer hiking paths. The dense and far-reaching network of hiking trails is ideally accessible with something to suit every taste. Biking:
Biking in the Gstaad - Saanenland regionGstaad is a great place for biking and mountain biking. 50 biker routes with every degree of difficulty offer a total of more than 150 km (93 miles) signposted trails, and 500 km (310 miles) of GPS tours and an electric bike system provide access to the most beautiful parts of the Gstaad - Saanenland region: from leisurely to sporty and from short excursions to extreme tours - click here for recommended itineraries.

Mountaineering / Climbing:
Climbing the Via FerrateThe Gstaad Saanenland region offers lots of climbing tours fom Zweisimmen to the "Pays d’Enhaut"; for anyone - from elite athletes to families. There are numerous popular tours - some only recommended with an experienced mountain guide, six Via Ferratas (fixed rope routes that are secured with iron ladders, pins, brackets and steel cables), an indoor climbing center in Gstaad and a High Rope Park in Zweisimmen.

Please Note: Prerequisites for going on a Via Ferrata: a good level of fitness, sure-footedness and a good head for heights, as well as mountain climbing experience. Climbing with a mountain guide is recommended.


Swimming:
Swimming at the Sports Center in GstaadThe Gstaad Saanenland region offers outdoor swimming pools in Saanen, Zweisimmen and at the Gstaad Palace Hotel, and an indoor swimming pool at the Gstaad Sports Center where proficient swimmers can train their endurance and technique and children can splash about at the family-friendly swimming pools with water chutes. The brave ones can take the plunge into ice-cold mountain lakes....


Salt Water Spa / Swimming is offered at the Hotel Ermitage in Schoenried. Wellness from its best side with salt water, indoor and open air swimming pools at 35°C. Further wellness amenities include a solarium, a whirlpool, a hay bath, and the sauna park with Finnish open air sauna, Biosauna, "Tropicana" steam bath and "Amethyst" precious stone grotto.


Golf:
The Gstaad - Saanenland Golf Course in Saanenmoeser - one of the most beautiful golf courses of the AlpsThe Gstaad – Saanenland Golf Course is located in Saanenmoeser at 1,400 m (4,600 ft) above sea level and is considered one of the most beautiful 18-hole courses in the Alps. Set in the delightful mountain landscape of the Bernese Oberland, adjoining a nature reserve and fens of national importance, it is far removed from all the noise and traffic.



Tennis:
indoor tennis courts at the Gstaad Sports CenterGstaad and tennis are an unbeatable pairing. Each year in July, the ATP Tour's elite competes at the Crédit Agricole Suisse Open Gstaad - the "Wimbledon of the Alps" at the legendary Roy Emerson Arena. The Gstaad - Saanenland region offers plenty of indoor- and outdoor tennis courts for tennis fans to enjoy a set or two.



Summer Tobogganing:
Tobogganing run at the Rellerli mountain above Schoenried-Gstaad, SwitzerlandGstaad has spectacular treats in store for young and old. Lot's of fun whether it's the Alpine Coaster at Glacier 3000 or tobogganing on the Rellerli high above Schönried.
 




Scooters and Bikeboards:
Going downhill the Gstaad mountains on bikeboards and scooters Scooters and bikeboards provide a fun alternative for anyone with a good level of fitness who enjoys racing down into the valley. There are 6 scooter and bikeboard runs in the Gstaad Saanenand region (in Gstaad, Schoenried, Zweisimmen and Chateau d'Oex).




River Rafting:
River Rafting on the Saane and Simme Rivers in the Bernese Oberland, SwitzerlandEspecially during the snowmelt the conditions for rafting and canyoning on the Saane and Simme rivers are nothing if not exhilirating,  But even at the height of the summer a rafting adventure on the cool waters is heaps of fun for the young and the young-at-heart.
